It has been 15 years since Aaron chose stone as his ideal medium of expression. Aaron’s stone work is clean and organic and inspired by the shapes and beauty of the natural world. His attention to detail leads to crisp lines, understated textured highlights, and fine polishes; and his reverence of nature is seen as his shapes accent and unlock the natural beauty of each stone. Always intrigued by how one’s perspective interacts with this static medium, Aaron often uses the translucent quality of the stone to bring light to these changing perspectives. These stained-glass and shadow effects add brilliance and vibrancy to his work.
A laborious and unyielding medium, stone requires a voracious persistence and an obsessive attention to detail to complete. His recent series was completed in a mountain studio in rural Gilpin County, Colorado in a setting just as unyielding and beautiful. As a former attendee and annual visitor, he is inspired by the annual Marble/Marble Symposium. His latest works are in the Colorado Yule Marble from that area. A Magna Cum Laude graduate of Colorado Mesa University in 2004, Aaron received a bachelors degree in Art with an emphasis in stone and bronze sculpture. His student show set a precedent for the most art ever sold at CMU’s gallery. He believes it is most important for people to enjoy the calm, meditative moments a finely crafted work of art can bring to this busy, modern world.
Aaron has recently moved to Palisade, Colorado and is in working temporarily in the 120 year old garage on his property while beginning the process of constructing a studio to work out of. He currently has work for sale in The Main Street Gallery in Grand Junction with previous showings in The Blue Pig of Palisade and the former Kurzman Lintott Gallery.
